I attended the funeral of last Wednesday to Ernie Dixon, a Friend I have known for almost 70 years. My late wife went to school with him and with his late wife,Edna. We have spent many happy times together both in the UK and in Spain. He would always go the extra yard to help anyone particularly with his DIY skills.He spent the whole of his life in the Merchant Navy where he was involved with the D-day landings and Dunkirk. He leaves behind a close family of which he was very proud.
The funeral was a very fitting tribute to this outstanding person conducted with humour and happiness. The great number of people at the funeral is a testament to this great character. I don't think they make them like him anymore. Rest in peace and keep taking the Captain Morgan's!
